Holy moly, I've gone and done it!

So I have thought about this a few hundred times over the last year...My hubby mentioned starting a blog a couple of months ago since I already post so much on social media, but I did not do it. I have been asked several times if I have a blog to follow, and my answer is always no, but not anymore!

I love to craft. Writing, not so much, so you will have to bear with me on that end, lol. I started scrapbooking in 2001, using Creative Memories, although I had put together scrapbooks starting in 1989, and throughout highschool, they just were not what I think of now when I think of scrapbooking. I was introduced to Close To My Heart in 2003, and became a consultant in 2009. I give workshops at my church, and have developed a great group of gals to scrap with that I am proud to call my friends! In 2013, I discovered Project Life, mostly as a way to scrap our Disney vacation, but after doing a little research, watching YouTube videos, and looking at Pinterest boards, I decided that this was going to be the way I would "catch up" on my scrapping. Before I had kids, it was easy to stay caught up, and there were even times I had nothing to scrapbook - sigh. I was two years behind, and now I am finishing up the last bits of 2013. I got more organized in 2014, writing down what I was taking pictures of, trying to capture the "little stuff" of our lives, instead of just the big moments. I felt as though my scrapbooks were all of the same things, just a different year. Pretty much every scrapbook I own from 2004 on (The year my oldest was born) goes like this: Playing in the snow, hubby's birthday, Valentine's Day, not much for March, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, etc. etc. etc. You get the idea. I was only capturing the holidays and other big moments of our lives. I started to feel like I was scrapping the same photos, different year. 2013 was also the year I got an iPhone, which changed the way I was taking pictures. My DSLR got a little dusty, except for the occasional photo shoot, and my phone became my primary photo taking device. Project Life is perfect for these photos. I still use my "big camera" from time to time, especially to take pictures of my layouts, and my kids, but that is pretty much it!

So, back to the reason I started this blog. I have become a part of some different Project Life groups on Facebook, and I am always asked how I did this, what did I use to make that, etc. I think if I have a blog, it will be easier. I can post my process, tools I used, products used, and techniques, and point people here for the scoop. I also am really interested in taking my scrapbooking further. I would love to be a part of a design team someday, but almost all of them require you to have a blog. Well, here is the start! January 1st is always a good place to start, isn't it?

This year, my plan is to scrap 2014 and 2015 at the same time. I also have a Disney 2013 trip to document, so I have plenty to keep me busy. I have really liked the weekly format of Project Life, and recently purchased the new Project 52 core kit with some extras. Here is my title page for our 2015 album:

I am so in love with this kit! I did use a few different things to complete this page, including the Project 52 core kit, Project 52 6x6 paper pad, Project 52 specialty cards, my Silhouette SD (old school, I know), bits and pieces from Heidi Swapp, Close to My Heart, and Studio Calico.

For the 2015 title card, I tried to find a font that was as close to the font used for the 52 cards in the middle. These cards came with the Project 52 kit. The font I chose was Impact. For the twenty fifteen, I used the font Grand Hotel, and welded the two words together. I just layered the 2015 and twenty fifteen on top of the card, and added an arrow from the Heidi Swapp foil kit.

The little "potty people" were from a Silhouette cut file, I just sized them and cut them out on some of the 6x6 paper. The way they were cut almost look as though they were stitched, but they are just glued down.

Hopefully I get a few followers out there! If so, welcome! I hope to update about once per week, perhaps documenting my album and other crafty ventures! Let me know if there is anything you are interested in hearing about!
